At Wates Smartspace, we are shaping the future of the built environment through smarter, more efficient and customer-focused delivery. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Business Improvement Manager to help drive meaningful change across our business.


The Role


This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering our Growth & Transformation strategy. Working closely with the Growth & Transformation Director, you will support the identification and delivery of business improvement initiatives that enhance performance, improve customer outcomes and drive operational excellence across Smartspace. You will help translate strategy into practical action — working with teams across the business to simplify processes, embed better ways of working and ensure improvements deliver real, measurable benefits.


What You’ll Be Doing


  • Supporting the delivery of strategic business improvement programmes across Smartspace
  • Analysing end-to-end processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement
  • Helping design and implement practical solutions using continuous improvement approaches (e.g. Lean, simplification)
  • Supporting the tracking of performance, KPIs and benefits realisation
  • Working with stakeholders across operational, commercial and support functions to embed change successfully
  • Turning customer and stakeholder feedback into actionable improvements
  • Supporting the development of a culture of continuous improvement across the business


What We’re Looking For


We’re looking for someone who is curious, analytical and motivated to improve how things are done.

You will likely have:

  • Experience of business improvement, process optimisation or change delivery
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn insight into action
  • The ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and influence without direct authority
  • Confidence communicating with a wide range of stakeholders
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with a strong delivery mindset


Experience within construction, FM or the built environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
