Business Development Manager | North East | Cleaning & FM Sector
We’re working with a well-established cleaning services business with a strong presence in the North East. They are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to drive new business growth across the region and build a strong, sustainable pipeline of commercial opportunities.
This is a pure new business role based in the North East, with a focus on winning new cleaning and FM contracts across a wide territory. The business already has a solid foundation and operational support in place, but they now want someone who can take ownership of the region and significantly grow the book of business.
Key duties
- Identify, pursue, and win new business opportunities across Scotland and the Northwest.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of new prospects through research, networking, referrals, and proactive outreach.
- Build and nurture relationships with key decision-makers, including facility managers, operations directors, and procurement teams.
- Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, presentations, and pricing to secure new contracts.
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure smooth handover and successful delivery once contracts are won.
- Represent the business at industry events, networking forums, and local business communities.
- Maintain accurate records of all activities, opportunities, and forecasts using the CRM system.
- Contribute to the long-term growth strategy for the Scotland / Northwest region.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a business development or senior sales role, ideally within cleaning, facilities management, or a related service sector.
- Strong track record of winning new B2B business and closing deals in a competitive market.
- Comfortable operating across a wide territory (Scotland and/or Northwest) and working independently.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to understand client needs and position solutions effectively.
- Self-motivated hunter mentality – you enjoy chasing new opportunities and are not satisfied with maintaining the status quo.
- Confident using CRM systems and managing your own pipeline and forecast.
The ideal candidate may come directly from cleaning/FM, or from a comparable B2B sales environment where new business generation is core to the role.
